Description of Project
General objective:
The assignment provides support for the studies on social protection and social inclusion in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and synthesise the results.
The country studies and the synthesis report inform about the structure of the social protection systems, the extent and incidence of poverty and social inclusion as well as the political discourse on envisaged reforms and further policy developments. The specific areas analysed are the economic and demographic background, labour market, poverty rates, vulnerable groups and indicators for material deprivation, policies to combat social exclusion, pensions, health and long-term care. The aim of the studies is the description and analysis on the basis of a common methodology, identifying the major challenges in the current social, economic and demographic context. In addition, recent reform efforts and major current issues for further reform are assessed.
Specific objectives:
- Methodological support to define contents of the country studies Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia
- Ongoing support to the research teams in methodological questions
- Establishment of a internet forum for the research groups to exchange background material and provide regular feedback
- Review of draft country studies and support to the inception workshop to discuss the methodology
- Review of the final country studies and support to the final workshop
- Elaboration of a synthesis report summarising in a comparative perspective similarities and differences in the area of social protection and social inclusion in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
